IT HAS BEEN CALLED THE "GRAND-DADDY OF THE 8th ARMY AIR FORCE."

LAST BOMB GROUP ASSIGNED AS A UNIT TO THE 8th.

FIRST COMBAT MISSION MAY 23, 1944.

LAST COMBAT MISSION APRIL 20, 1945.

FLEW SIX FOOD DROPS TO HOLLAND MAY 1-7,1945

AND NUMEROUS POW RELIEF FLIGHTS.

FLEW 133 MISSIONS BEFORE BEING ATTACKED BY

GERMAN FIGHTERS.

LOST 34 A/C TO ANTI-AIRCRAFT FIRE OVER EUROPE.

FLEW 170 MISSIONS AND NEVER LOST AN AIRCRAFT TO GERMAN FIGHTERS OVER EUROPE.

DEACTIVATED AUGUST 28,1945, SIOUX FALLS, S.D.
